Donnybrook - Post Office
Aren't all the old post offices grand? Donnybrook is no exception. Here is it, on the South Western Highway (the main street), which runs through town. February 2011 |

Donnybrook - Restaurant
This is a pub/restaurant on the main street between the post office and the Donnybrook Hotel. "Swag" says one shingle ... "cu@68" ... says another. February 2011 |

Donnybrook - Hotel
A rather sturdy looking Donnybrook Hotel sits proudly on the South Western Highway, watching the world go by. February 2011 |

Donnybrook - Hotel
The Donnybrook Hotel again - this time viewed from (and through) the old railway station. Can you see "Pittmans" on the upper brickwork? I wonder if that was the original name of the pub or its owners? February 2011 |

Donnybrook - Old Bank
Look at this lovely old building on the main street. Up there in the bricks it says "Commercial Bank of Australia Ltd". Not them anymore as they were swallowed up by a financial predator long ago! February 2011 |

Donnybrook - Shop
I always love a quaint looking building and can't resist taking a picture. This is "A Touch of Yesterday - for Vintage Homewares" near the old Commercial Bank building. February 2011 |

Donnybrook - Cafe
Tiffany's Cafe on the main street. This is a view looking north up the street. February 2011 |

Donnybrook - Station
The old Donnybrook train station has been fabulously retained and maintained. Today is market day and it was great to wander through the stalls and take in the old station architecture and sniff the history.. This is the "road" side of the station. The local Chamber of Commerce and Tourist Information Centre live here now and they both keep the place spick 'n' span. February 2011 |

Donnybrook - Station
Another picture of the old station, this time on the "track" side. Some of the market stalls spill over onto this side. February 2011 |

Donnybrook - Goods Shed
I recall (in the 60's) coming down to Donnybrook on the footplate of a freight steam train ex Bunbury. We stopped here for crib, awaiting the up-coming train from Bridgetown or Boyup Brook where they would swap crews. On this site was a large freight shed, the loading platform laden with hessian bags full of Granny Smith apples awaiting market. A few bags were misappropriated by the rail crews! February 2011 |

Donnybrook - Community Centre
On the north side of the train station is this rather splendid building. It's the local Community Resource Centre. February 2011 |

Donnybrook - Bridge
This bridge spans the Preston River. It's off to the east side of the main street (you can see the back of some of the main street shops etc). The bridge leads down to the Preston river and weir. The area down there is called the Preston River Foreshore and/or Gnangangarich Park. February 2011 |

Donnybrook - Preston River
You can see a small dam on the Preston River forming this weir. It's nicely over-flowing so there is a steady flow of water down-stream. Very peaceful down here, and as can be seen, picturesque. February 2011 |

Donnybrook - Highway
This is the South Western Highway just south of town. That sandy streak on the left, winding off into the distance, is where they have filled in the Donnybrook - Boyup Brook train line but didn't bother to actually remove the tracks! February 2011 |
