Dwellingup

A quaint former forestry industry town, Dwellingup is situated up in the hills about 15 minutes drive from Pinjarra

West to Pinjarra

East to Boddington

Dwellingup - Train Station

Dwellingup train station looks quite resplendent in its federation colours. Steam excursion trains leave at 10.00am and 2.00pm on Sundays (which is today). Was that little building a signal box? August 2009

Dwellingup - Train Station

This is steam locomotive G123 ready to haul it's three passenger coaches a few kilometres into the forest. 40-50 years ago this locomotive was based in Bunbury and was used as a yard and jetty shunter. August 2009

Dwellingup - Train Station

These carriages are out for a run today. Other carriages rest in the sheds - not needed today. A couple of small diesels relax nearby. They won't be needed until the summer fire-season. August 2009

Dwellingup - Visitor Centre

The Dwellingup History and Information Centre. This place is just down the track from the train station. August 2009

Dwellingup - Log

A big log in the park next to the Information Centre. I suppose this is jarrah and was logged many years ago. August 2009

Dwellingup - Oval

The Dwellingup oval. Now I'm sure that tree stump used to be down at full forward? August 2009

Dwellingup - Hotel

Dwellingup Community Hotel was had quiet good patronage today. There was a whole lot of 50-60 vintage Ford Mustangs etc outside, plus a number of motor cycles. August 2009

Dwellingup - Street

A view up the road taken from down near the above pub. The junction up there is the main road. Turn right for Pinjarra. August 2009

Dwellingup - Cloth's Shop

This clothes shop is on the opposite corner to the local deli. Rather a windy and wet day today. August 2009

Dwellingup - RSL Hall

Picturesque wooden RSL Sub-branch on the main street. August 2009

Dwellingup - CWA House

The sign looks almost as big as the house. The Dwellingup Country Women's Association. No smells of cooking pumpkin scones wafting out of the window today. August 2009

Dwellingup - Community Hall

The shiny Dwellingup Community Hall on the main street contrasts with black rain clouds in the background. August 2009

Dwellingup - Millhouse Restaurant

The Millhouse restaurant on the main street. I'm sure I've been in there before and it was very good. August 2009

Dwellingup - Wellington Restaurant

One of the few quite splendid restaurants/cafes in town. Good food here at reasonable prices and a hearty log fire burning keeps the place toasty - we had lunch here. August 2009
