Fremantle - Henderson Street On Henderson Street looking east. These rather fashionable terraced homes were originally built for prison guard residences who worked just up the road a bit, turn right and up the hill to the old clink! In the 1960's etc they weren't very fashionable at all. How Fremantle has changed. 2007 |

Fremantle - Cleopatra Hotel on High Street Another hotel which is no longer an hotel. "Cleopatra Hotel" is emblazoned across the top of the building. In at least the 1980's this was known as "The Auld Mug", referring, or course, to the America's Cup. It's on High Street, near Mouat Street. These days the building is owned by Christian Brothers and used largely for their community programs. January 2012 |

Fremantle - His Majesty's Hotel On the corner of Phillimore and Mouat Streets sits His Majesty's Hotel. This was built around 1903. It was once called His Lordship's Larder, in the 1980's or thereabouts, I think. These days it is part of the Notre Dame University complex. April 2012 |

Fremantle - Prison The grim old Fremantle prison has long been closed and been lately turned into a tourist attraction. This is the main entrance off Holdsworth Street. The high perimeter walls that surrounded the entrance have gone but they remain in place for much of the rest of the prison. This was built between 1852 and 1859 probably due to size limitations of the old Round House prison. January 2009 |
Fremantle - Prison House This building is just south of the prison main gate. Looks very picturesque. Went in to have a look at what it is but the sign says "Private". This might have been a home to the prison C.O. in the old days? January 2009 |
