Jennacubbine

A tiny settlement half way between Toodyay and Goomalling, some 4 kms south of the Goomalling-Toodyay Road, down Tyndall Road

West to Toodyay

East to Goomalling

Jennacubbine - Church

This is the Saint Isidore (Patron Saint of Agriculturalists) Catholic Church at Jennacubbine. A lovely old building dedicated on 17th November 1907 by the Lord Bishop of Perth, The Most Rev. M. Gibney. Photograph October 2011

Jennacubbine - Tavern

I would never have known about this place except for some advertisement I saw in Goomalling so decided to take the side trip and I'm so glad I did. This remarkable tavern looks splendid and seems a little out of place in such a tiny rural settlement. Photograph October 2011

Jennacubbine - CWA Building

The cute C.W.A. building a couple of hundred metres west of the Tavern. Photograph October 2011

Jennacubbine - Hall

This is the rather grand-looking Jennacubbine Hall, again looking a little out of place here. To the rear are tennis courts and a fire station. Photograph October 2011

Jennacubbine - CBH Access Road

This is the access road to the Co-operative Bulk Handling Facility adjacent to the Northam-Goomalling narrow gauge railway. Photograph October 2011

Jennacubbine - CBH Depot

All's quiet here now but I bet this place is a hive of activity come wheat harvesting time. In the fore-ground in the weighbridge. Beyond, grain loading equipment. Photograph October 2011

Jennacubbine - Tank Stand

The paddocks around here are so green right now after good rains. They seem to go on forever. This is an old tank stand in a paddock, with a couple of distant trees keeping an eye on things. Photograph October 2011

Jennacubbine - Hall on the Main Road

Back on the Goomalling - Toodyay road at the start on Tyndall Road. Is this still Jennacubbine? I don't know - it's 4 kms away. Never mind. Look at this wonderful old hall falling into very poor disrepair - I wonder why? The hall was opened on 17th November 1897 by B. O. Clarkson Esq. J.P., President. President of what? Perhaps this was a church hall. April 2012

Jennacubbine - Hall on the Main Road

This is inside the main hall. It's sad to see the broken windows and floor boards starting to lift. At the rear of the building is a small separate room complete with fireplace. Such a fine old building being neglected - pity. April 2012

Jennacubbine - Old Garage on Main Road

Across the road from the hall is this old service station. Like so many others everywhere, they became uneconomical to run thus closed. I actually like these places staying as this is as it serves as a memorial of how things were. Who can remember drinking Frist? April 2012
