North Fremantle - Dingo Flour Mill The Dingo Flour Mill on Stirling Highway has been a landmark forever. Rumour has it that the dingo was painted over during WW2 so as not to be a war target. June 2008 |

North Fremantle - Stirling Highway A fabulous example of typical Fremantle sandstone architecture on Stirling Highway, just 500 metres or so south of the "Dingo". June 2008 |

North Fremantle - Swan Hotel The Swan Hotel on Stirling Highway, just a bit north of the Fremantle traffic bridge has been here for ages. A peek inside reveals a treasure-trove of history. June 2008 |

North Fremantle - Swan Hotel Here is the southern side of the Swan Hotel. Doesn't that woodwork look grand? June 2008 |

North Fremantle - MUA Building Over on the other side of Stirling Highway is this building. The Maritime Worker's Union (MWU) building, looks nice in a pale winter sun. June 2008. |

North Fremantle - Antique Shop This great looking building is on Queen Victoria St (used to be Stirling Highway). Fabulous stone work and again so typical a building of this area. June 2008 |

North Fremantle - Post Office The North Fremantle post office is nestled away quite comfortably tucked away near the corner of Queen Victoria Street (used to be Stirling Highway) and Tydeman Road. June 2008 |

North Fremantle - Railway Hotel The Railway Hotel is adjacent to the North Fremantle wharf and the container terminal and container storage areas, big fuel tanks and other port-type stuff. Situated on the corner of Pearse Street and Tydeman Road this hotel has been here since 1894! Bit noisy now with all the container semi-trailer trucks thundering by, but inside I'm sure they still serve a nice cool ale. June 2008 |

North Fremantle - Railway Hotel This is the Tydeman Road facade of the Railway Hotel. Nice metalwork and bull-nosed verandah. You can even get a haircut in there! June 2008 |

North Fremantle - Matilda Bay On Stirling Highway here is the Matilda Bay Brewery - although by the look of it the building is for lease. Where have they gone? September 2010 |
North Fremantle - Leighton Bridge This bridge connects Stirling Highway with Leighton Beach. It spans the old railway marshalling yards - virtually all the track has gone now. With the exception, of course, of the Perth-Fremantle railway lines. September 2010 |
North Fremantle - Leighton Bridge On the same bridge looking the other way, back towards Stirling Highway. Also under the bridge used to be Leighton railway station. This was closed at about the same time of the demise of the marshalling yards. September 2010 |

North Fremantle - Rail Yards This building was the control centre for the Leighton railway marshalling yards. It's still here! September 2010 |

North Fremantle - Rose Hotel This rather splendid building is the Rose Hotel. No longer a hotel though, it still sits majestically on Queen Victoria Street. This road used to be Stirling Highway until it was re-routed over the Stirling Bridge back in the '70's. December 2010 |

North Fremantle - Weeties Factory Off on Harvest Road is the old Weeties factory. Now it's accommodation. I wonder what they all eat for breakfast in here? December 2010 |

North Fremantle - Brigitte Bardotte Slipping out of Fremantle is this trimaran, a rather spectacular three-hulled vessel. The Brigitte Bardotte is part of the Sea Shepherd's anti-whaling armory soon to head to the south seas to do battle with the Japanese whalers. You can see Garden Island in the background. December 2011 |

North Fremantle - Ferry Terminal North Fremantle harbour area has expanded a lot over the years with much land reclamation from the sea and new harbours, channels, roads and facilities being built. And it is still expanding. Rottnest Island Ferries has a terminal here in addition to that in the port proper. December 2011 |
North Fremantle - Floats The floats caught my eye. A good use for old tyres too. I'm sure they are put to good maritime use but not sure what that is. December 2011 |
North Fremantle - Containers In the port area of North Fremantle are stacks and stacks of empty sea-containers. Perhaps we should export more goods to get rid of them? This area is jammed with huge trucks coming and going - it is a hive of import (and a bit of export) activity. December 2011 |
North Fremantle - Lunch Bar Sitting down near the sea and all the sea containers is this little lunch shop and bait bar. There is a truck waiting area nearby so I'd bet they would do a good trade! December 2011 |
