Perth - Train Station Perth Train station. A little modernised but it still looks pretty much as it did 40 years ago. Only Metro passenger trains and the Australind run from here now. No more Westland, Kalgoorlie Express, Bunbury Shopper, Albany Progress, Midlander or Mullewa Express! 2007 |

Perth - New Train Station Looking north up the tunnel from the new Perth Underground Station. Up that way is back into the light and off to Leederville. When the London Underground was first being built around 1863, they used to dig up the streets, build the tracks/stations, then put a roof over it and fill in the hole again. Very inconvenient for road users. Henry Greathead invented the "metal tube" that let the builders work underground. The basis of this technology is still in use today. 2007 |

Perth - City Train Lines Viewed from the iron footbridge. A Clarkson-bound train has emerged from the tunnel portal from the rail underground. Those tracks to the left are used by Fremantle trains - soon to be also in a tunnel, I believe. This is looking east - over there in the background somewhere is Perth station. August 2011 |

Perth - Corner of Milligan Street This curved building on the corner of Wellington and Milligan Streets used to be a garage and motor repair shop, with a bit of car-parking thrown in for good measure. August 2011 |
Perth - Old Garage on Milligan Street A little up Milligan Street, this is the southern side of that curved building. This used to be a service station and right there at ground level were the petrol pumps. I think this was a favourite re-fuelling stop in the old days for taxis. August 2011 |
Perth - Apartments - Milligan Street On the other southern corner of Wellington and Milligan is this huge block of apartments which actually look quite pleasing. Good one for inner-city living. The building next to it, on the right, is the Citigate Hotel. August 2011 |
