Popanyinning - Rosella Shop

This is the northern aspect of the Rosella Building, constructed in 1920. It was a general store right up until closure in 1962, and sold groceries including home produced vegetables, fruit and eggs. Photograph November 2011

This is the southern aspect of the Rosella Building which features the Shell sign. This place is a private residence these days. Photograph November 2011

Popanyinning - House

This house is right on the main street - the historic Spraggs House. A little south of here once stood quite a grand hotel but that was burnt to the ground in 1978 and was never rebuilt. Photograph November 2011

Popanyinning - Old School

This is the old school which operated from June 1905 to December 1973. The school is now a museum but looking through a window it still looks very much like a primary school classroom! Photograph November 2011

Popanyinning - Train Station

This station was originally built in 1889 before the townsite even existed. Passenger services continued to run through here until 1978. These days only grain trains pass though without a pause! The station has been lovingly restored and renovated.  Photograph November 2011

Popanyinning - Train Station Sign

This certainly looks like an original station sign. It's not located right on the station, rather a few dozen metres to the south, standing on its own. Photograph November 2011
