Serpentine - Falls Roadhouse If you are breezing down the South Western Highway, you don't get to the see the townsite of Serpentine at all and it's a couple of minutes west of the highway. You should however see the Serpentine Falls Cafe and Roadhouse which is located right on the highway. January 2009 |

Serpentine - Tavern The Serpentine Tavern on the corner of Richardson and Wellard Streets. Often hard to photograph as this side never gets much sun. Today it's a cloudy day and the tavern is yet to open. April 2011 |

Serpentine - Highway A section of the South Western Highway looking south, at the corner of Karnup Road which runs off to the west to the Serpentine townsite. On the left you can see part of the road-house. The cream building is Baldwin's Cottage. May 2012 |
Serpentine - Baldwin's Cottage Baldwin's Cottage constructed circa 1856 sits directly across the highway from the road-house. A beautifully maintained piece of local history. This is a private residence. May 2012 |
Serpentine - Turner Cottage Turner Cottage is located right beside the South Western Highway, on the western side, next to the river bridge, but largely shrouded by trees to almost impossible to see as you drive past. This wonderful dwelling was built by early settlers Edward and Elizabeth Turner in 1856. May 2012 |
Serpentine - Turner Cottage Another view of Turner Cottage from a north-west aspect, showing off the fine old brickwork and shingled roof. May 2012 |
Serpentine - Turner Cottage - Craft Shop In the grounds of Turner Cottage are a number of "out-buildings" which were probably added after the original cottage was built. This is the Craft Shop, a brick, timber building with metal roof. May 2012 |
Serpentine - Turner Cottage - Stables Tea Rooms Still on the Turner Cottage property, this is the fine-looking Stables Tea Rooms. Undoubtedly the original stables. This restaurant/tea rooms provide in-dining or take-away. Unfortunately I don't know the trading hours. May 2012 |
Serpentine - Turner Cottage - Wool Shed Last out-building featured in this area is the old wool shed. This is the northern aspect showing off the sturdy brick chimney and the vertical wooden slats. Turner Cottage is still owned and operated by the descendants of the original residents who can, on application, provide a guided tour on the vicinity. May 2012 |
Serpentine - Catholic Church Set in the southern end of the town-site is the eye-catching St Kevin's Catholic Church. The Church looks rather 1920's in construction style, with the horizontal local hard-wood, although the tin roof probably would have been added later as would have been the cream and grey paintwork. Serpentine - Train Station Little station where the Australind stops on demand. The tracks gleam as a result of a lot of freight traffic, mainly going down to Alcoa. The track wends off to the south - next station, North Dandalup. Here was one of the first stations built on the Perth - Bunbury line after it was opened in 1893. May 2012 |
