Karlgarin

Karlgarin is a small town situated between Kondinin and Hyden. It is about 20 kms west of Hyden and 320 kms east of Perth. This locale was first surveyed in 1848 and then named Carlgarin. Settlers later arrived. By 1924 the place was designated as a soldier settlement area. The government deferred its decision regarding the final location of a townsite until the railway route was agreed. The railway arrived here in 1930. The townsite was gazetted in 1931

Karlgarin - Country Club

It was a little surprising to find a modern country club in a town of this size and location. It was also unexpected to find a church of such size and substance. Obviously the area is thriving. The country club was established in town in 1953. This building appears to have been built in 1980 or then was the time the 1953 building was modified. April 2015. Photos Ref: KARL003

The local school opened in 1932. Additions and alterations were made in 1948, 1964 and 1972. It seems in reasonable repair but does not appear to be any longer in use. April 2015. Photos Ref: KARL008
