Yerecoin

A small town within the Shire of Victoria Plains, between Calingiri and Piawaning. Yerecoin is about 156 kms north-east of Perth. The town came about through the northern extension of the Bolgart railway which was opened in 1917. At that time, the town area was owned by the Midland Railway Company. The school was opened in 1927 but the town was not actually gazetted until 1966. The name Yerecoin is derived from an Aboriginal term for a local well
